ALL ABOUT ACTING and PUBLIC SPEAKING is the best “first step” anyone - young or mature - can take before stepping in front of a camera, on a stage or before an audience. Because we know our way around both a theater and a film set, we are able to teach students the finer points often overlooked in acting and public speaking classes that focus mainly on performance. The class meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.

In this class, you will learn from the bottom up, by which I mean that you will learn terminology, placement, breathing, posture and the importance of making a good first impression. You will learn how to introduce yourself and how to channel your emotions at the blink of an eye. You will learn to turn those emotions off even quicker.

There will be a lot of repetition, which at first will have you questioning “what is the need.” In a very short time, you will understand the need to constantly refresh and retrain your brain to remember material that you will use for years to come.

All About Acting and Public Speaking is a 6-week workshop in which students are given individualized attention. The course includes the ABCs and 1-2-3s of performance and continues through total immersion monologue/speech training and two person interaction. Focus will be given to comedic timing and the value of the “power pause.” By the end of the six (6) weeks, students will have added the skills necessary to begin presenting themselves with confidence. Successful completion of the course will include an invitation to join our Advanced Acting/Pre-production class which meets on Friday evenings. This is the class where the skills you learned in the six-week course are put to practical use by giving students an opportunity to “perform” before a live audience. What good is learning a new skill if you never get to show off your talents!

The workshop costs $200.00. Payment is expected at time of registration. Once a student is registered, class materials are sent in advance of the first session.
