ALL ABOUT ACTING

6-week workshop

Master the essentials for a successful career in the entertainment arts!

ALL ABOUT ACTING is the best “first step” an actor can take before stepping in front of a camera or on a stage. Because we know our way around both a theater and a film set, we are able to teach students the finer points often overlooked in acting classes that focus mainly on scene study. The class meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.

In this class, you will learn from the bottom up, by which I mean that you will learn terminology, placement, breathing, posture and the importance of making a good first impression. You will learn how to introduce yourself and how to channel your emotions at the blink of an eye. You will learn to turn those emotions off even quicker.

There will be a lot of repetition, which at first will have you questioning “what is the need.” In a very short time, you will understand the need to constantly refresh and retrain your brain to remember material that you will use for years to come.

All About Acting is a 6-week workshop in which students are given individualized attention. The course includes the ABCs and 1-2-3s of acting basics and continues through total immersion monologue training and two person scene study. Focus will be given to comedic timing and the value of the “power pause.” By the end of the six (6) weeks, students will have added the skills necessary to begin auditioning with confidence. Successful completion of the course will include an invitation to join our Advanced Acting/Pre-production class which meets on Friday evenings. This is the class where material and actors are chosen for upcoming shows at the Institute.

The workshop costs $200.00. Payment is expected at time of registration. Once a student is registered, class materials are sent in advance of the first session.

THE NEXT 6-WEEK ACTING COURSE BEGINS ON MAY 1st

(May 1 - June 5, 2024)
